Robin Clark-Bennett

Labor Educator
Robin Clark-Bennett has served as a Labor Center educator since 2008. She teaches noncredit classes for working Iowans on labor and employment rights, collective bargaining, organizing, labor history, workplace safety, and pre-apprenticeship pathways into skilled construction trades. Robin also speaks Spanish and conducts many of the Labor Center’s outreach programs with immigrant and refugee community organizations. She is a member of the United Association for Labor Education and serves on the boards of the Iowa BlueGreen Alliance, the Iowa Women in Trades, the Center for Worker Justice of Eastern Iowa, and the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights.
Samantha Groark

Labor Educator
Samantha Groark joined the Labor Center as a part-time labor educator in 2025. Her work focuses on a grant-funded initiative to support successful outcomes for graduates of the Labor Center's Quality Pre-Apprenticeship Program, a U.S. DOL recognized program that provides high school seniors and adults with the skills, connections, and certifications to enter skilled construction Registered Apprenticeship. In addition to her role at the Labor Center, Samantha serves as the Executive Director of the Central Iowa Building and Construction Trades Council. She serves on several boards, including the Education Success Cabinet of the United Way of Central Iowa, the Iowa Women in Trades, and the Des Moines Public Schools Building and Construction Trades CTE Advisory Board.
Paul Iversen

Director
Paul Iversen joined the Labor Center staff as a Labor Educator in January, 2011. He teaches on a range of subjects, and has particular expertise in labor and employment law, contract administration and enforcement, labor arbitration, occupational health and safety, and building and construction trades issues (including the application of Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage statutes). In January 2025, he assumed the role of Director of the UI Labor Center.
Noel VanDenBosch

Secretary
In September 2024, Noel VanDenBosch began her role as secretary for the UI Labor Center. She handles administrative work, registration and conference logistics, and materials preparation associated with all Labor Center on-campus and off-campus programming.
