Classes for Central Labor Councils

Labor Center educators can travel to your area to conduct a customized class that suits the needs and interests of your Central Labor Council. (Find out more about the Central Labor Council nearest you.) In the recent past, Iowa Central Labor Councils have hosted Labor Center programs on topics such as steward education, workers’ compensation, mobilizing members, health care, labor history, and many others (see examples below). Classes can range from a short evening class in conjunction with regularly scheduled meetings, full or half-day programs on weekends or week days, or multi-week series.

Iowa Central Labor Councils are eligible to receive financial support to host up to four Labor Center classes per year as part of a unique educational program sponsored by the Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO. For eligible classes, the Iowa Federation of Labor covers instructional fees, and Labor Councils are responsible only for the cost of class handouts.
